Good Perfomance - Not Enough
By Cards on 03 October 2009
Barnsley 2-1 Ipswich:
Another impressive perfomance by the blues, away from home was not enough to secure three points, after letting it slip away in the dieing seconds of the match. Again!
An early goal on 8 minutes, from Iain Hume put the Tykes in the lead with a low drive, beating Town keeper, Richard Wright.
However, Ipswich struck back just before half time, with loanee, Liam Rosenior finding the net with a powerful header.
Despite having a majority of posession in the second half, the Tractor Boys failed to capitilize and were punished by conceding a penalty which Iain Hume didn't convert and hit the woodwork.
This scare didn't put Ipswich off and the blues piled on the pressure deep into the game. But unfortunately, it was that same story again and a late goal by former Town player, Jon Macken secured Barnsley's three points and consequently saw Ipswich stay rock bottom.
